Desperate cars
HC, 23 x 30 cm., o.pp.
Girard 2010
"Exhausted, abandoned, wounded, the collection of cars captured by Sébastien Girard are in fact desperate. We find them in the middle of the night, broken wrecks bearing the scars of their mad days wheeled by man. An analytical flash captures them in their everlasting solitude. Desperate cars is the second book of the series inaugurated by Nothing but Home." "Sebastien Girard (b.1970) didn't study photography but architecture. In 1990 he realized the importance of the photobook as a medium with the discovery of a japanese version of Ed van der Elsken's famous book BAGARA. Since this time photobooks have become his main obsession. In 2009, Girard self-published his first book Nothing but Home. Then, in 2010, came Desperate Cars, the second book of the series. And finally, in 2011, the third volume has been published: Under House Arrest." (both texts by Dalpine)
