Mit THE PHOTOBOOK: A HISTORY legt ausgerechnet Martin Parr, einer der innovativsten Bildermacher der Gegenwart, den ersten Band einer fundierten Gesamtsichtung zum Thema "Fotografie im Buch" vor. Zusammen mit Gerry Badger hat der britische Magnum-Fotograf eine Werkauswahl aus seiner Sammlung getroffen, die neben den Standardwerken der Fotobuch- Geschichte auch einige reizvolle Neuentdeckungen enthält. Begleitet wird der bibliophile Band von informativen Essays, die neben den Anfängen des Fotobuchs erstmals die modernistischen und dokumentarischen Facetten beleuchten. Ein Fokus auf Bildbände der Nachkriegsära und jüngere Tendenzen des japanische Fotobuchs runden das Projekt ab.
