Slovak photographer Andrej Bán created this book with the help of a grant from the U.S. Slovakian Embassy. In photos taken over ten years and forty trips to Kosovo, Bán set out to document the lives of all who call the place their home: Kosovar Albanians, Serbs, Roma and other minorities. According to the Embassy, "Ban saw villains become victims and victims become villains." The result is a balanced and sensitive portrait of a country trying desperately to let its painful wounds heal before they are deepened.
