"Temporary Discomfort" entstand von Januar 2001 bis Juni 2003 in Davos, Genua, New York, Evian und Genf während des World Economic Forum, respektive während der G8 Gipfel.
Bei allen Anlässen war Jules Spinatsch anwesend. Anstelle von Strassenschlächten oder Gruppenbildern mit staatsmännischem Händedrücken, zeigt er Davoser Winternächte mit Maschenzaun- und Stacheldrahtlabyrinthen im Flutlicht; Genua, leer wie der mittägliche Mittelmeerhimmel, eine Festung; Frachtcontainer - Symbole des Welthandels - die, zu Barrikaden umfunktioniert, als Bollwerke gegen dessen Gegner dienen; das nächtliche New York mit Strassensperren, Zelten und Fernsehübertragungswagen in ihrer Verlassenheit; das schläfrige Wachen der Schutzmänner. Er zeigt das Warten auf das große Ereignis, das als bis ins letzte durchgeplant sichtbar wird.
