A hundred years after the genocide comitted by the german colonial troops against Herero and Nama, Eva Leitolf takes a close look at the commemoration cultures of the Hereros and the self-image of todays Namibians of german origin. Laconically her pictures throw light on a society that is shaped by ressentiment and uncertainty, thus shedding light on identity and home-country. "Eva Leitolf has produced a small series in Namibia, where every image produces a disconcerting effect between stage and documentary."
