"Personnellement, j'ai toujours eu l'intention de publier des livres. Ca a toujours été plus important que les expos. Même quand je savais que tel ou tel travail ne devait pas faire l'objet d'une publication, il ne me semblait pas véritablement terminé tant que je ne l'avais pas organisé en portfolios. Avant même de publier mon premier vrai livre, je fabriquais moi-même à la main mes propres livres, tous les six mois environ. J'avais besoin d'unifier mes différents travaux en une série avant de passer à autre chose. Pour moi, une exposition, c'est plutôt une récompense, quelque chose en plus, mais ce n'est pas une fin en soi." Rinko Kawauchi --
