Zwischen 1966 und 1971 fotografierte William Eggleston, "the first color photographer" (John Szarkowski), mit einer 2/4 inch Kamera. Seine ersten Experimente mit diesem Format und mit der Farbfotografie, zu der er 1966 gelangte, zeigt nun erstmals diese Neuerscheinung. Hinreissende, teils coole Motive offenbaren nicht nur die Meisterschaft des Fotografen, sondern fangen zudem ein dichtes Zeitbild der American Sixties ein. Novum.

"Not long ago, the photographer was watching the sky at dusk. It was cloudy and there was no moon. A boy beside him asked, "Mr. Bill? Are the stars always out?" How that moved him!
