Marianne Brandt, die bedeutendste Metallgestalterin am Bauhaus, die vor allem durch das inzwischen legendär gewordene Tee-Extraktkännchen MT49 bekannt ist, betrieb die Fotografie autodidaktisch neben ihrer gestalterischen Tätigkeit. Neben Arbeiten, die von Lehrer Moholy-Nagy´propagierten "Neuen Sehens" beeinflußt sind, findet sich eine Reihe von sehr persönlichen Selbststudien, über Spiegel und Selbstauslöser getätigt.
